Dr. Zhiwen Chen

Dr. Chen is an expert with 14 years experience in hydraulic research and consultancy. His fields of expertise include wave and current modelling, statistics, morphology and offshore pipeline technology. Dr. Chen has participated in many coastal, harbour and offshore projects in many countries such as Germany , the United Kingdom , Ireland , Norway , Canada , the United Arab Emirates , Saudi Arabia , India , Sri Lanka , Russia , China and the Netherlands . These projects covered a wide range of topics including normal and extreme wave and current conditions, wave penetration in harbours, morphological analysis studies, hydrodynamic loadings on pipelines, local scour and protection and environmental impact studies. Dr. Chen has also participated in a number of research projects such as the development of numerical models for the interaction between pipelines and seabed, numerical simulations of turbulent flows around pipelines and development and application of wave, flow and morphological model system. Dr. Chen has published several papers on topics in coastal and offshore engineering.
