Miss. Patrycja Czerniak

Miss Patrycja Czerniak is a coastal researcher with the interdisciplinary background. She started her academic study in Geography at the University of Szczecin in Poland . The last years of her M.Sc. study were devoted to specialization in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems with the particular focus on the coastal areas. Her scientific interest in the coastal zone was further intensified by the participation in various projects set up in the near shore areas. To advance her knowledge about the processes acting in the coastal zone with the aim to gain relevant coastal engineering training, Ms Czerniak pursued with a second M.Sc. study in Coastal Geosciences and Engineering at the University of Kiel in Germany . This study intensively trained her in sustainable management of the coastal zone. She run two distinct master projects and received her two M.Sc. degrees in 2003. Simultaneously with her academic carrier, Ms Czerniak participated in numerous projects set up in the coastal zone. One of the latest project she was assigned to, was the research project at the University of Kiel aimed to investigate processes in a mangrove environment. Within that project Ms Czerniak conducted her Ph.D. study, where she examined the hydrodynamic and sedimentary conditions controlling sediment dynamics in a mangrove estuary system in Vietnam . Ms Czerniak is specialized in coastal processes, coastal hydrodynamics, sediment transport, coastal development, coastal hazards and coastal zone management. In Alkyon, Ms Czerniak is assigned to the Coastal Engineering group.
