Mr. Jaap de Groot
Mr. De Groot graduated in May 2005
from the
University
of
Twente
. In his B.Sc. thesis he designed a quay wall structure including several marine
facilities for mooring vessels. During his M.Sc. thesis he investigated the
modelling of the morphological behaviour of sandpits.
During his employment at Alkyon, Mr. De Groot has
participated in various harbour projects such as the development of a masterplan
for a new port in Brazil to handle a cargo flow of 300 million ton per annum
(liquid bulk, iron ore, grain, general cargo and containers) and the basic
engineering for a new port in Venezuela, consisting of a cruise terminal, navy
and service port, grain terminal, dry bulk terminal and a combined general cargo
and container terminal.
Furthermore, he has been involved in sedimentation and morphological studies
like the sedimentation study for a landfall trench in
Algeria
to accommodate a new pipeline, a study on the hydrodynamic and morphological
impact of deepening of the Suriname River and a coastal impact and siltation
study for the new
harbour
of
Azzawiya
,
Libya
. In the projects he used various mathematical models for the modelling of
waves, currents, water levels and sediment transport.
