Mr. Martijn Onderwater

Mr. Onderwater, who graduated in 1997 at the Delft University of Technology, is a coastal engineer who has specialised himself in coastal morphology, in sediment transport processes and in wave dynamics in coastal zones. He has participated in numerous harbour and coastal development projects in which his role was to determine the effect of harbour and coastal structures on the development of the adjacent coastlines, to assess the rate of sedimentation of areas to be excavated and to find remedial measures for adverse effects. In the last few years he has also participated in various projects with respect to coastal safety issues along the Dutch coast.

To support his consultancy services, Mr. Onderwater applies sophisticated mathematical models to describe sediment transport processes. He has also developed a new mathematical model to determine the rate of sedimentation of dredged areas.

Studies have been performed in The Netherlands as well as abroad.
