Mr. Jan van OvereemMr. Van Overeem has more than 25 years experience in
hydraulic engineering, coastal morphology and coastal zone management. He has
participated as team member and as project manager in a large number of harbour
and coastal projects, both using physical and mathematical models. He has been
involved in the design of coastal protections in many countries, such as the
United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, The Netherlands, Hong Kong and Australia, in
studies and designs of ports and port extensions in Spain, India, Saudi Arabia,
Mozambique and Ireland and studies on the morphological aspects of trenches for
tunnels and pipelines in Argentina, New Zealand and Venezuela. Moreover Mr. Van
Overeem was the Project Manager for a policy study on future coastal defence
strategies for the Dutch coast and he carried out several assignments as
Resident Manager on behalf of WL | Delft Hydraulics in Perú and Argentina. He
has published several papers on topics in coastal engineering and coastal
management and he was co-editor of a Manual and a special issue on Beach
