Ship manoeuvring and mooring models

  • SHIP-NAVIGATOR is a ship manoeuvring simulator, used for design and optimisation of channels and harbours. The simulator works either real-time or fast-time. Also it allows for manual ship control as well as automated control. In the latter case a pilot-emulating tool steers the ship in a human-like fashion along a pre-determined track and controls engine, rudder and assisting tugs. The model has been designed such that it allows for accurate manoeuvring at sea, in channels and rivers and for close-quarter manoeuvring during berthing. For more information on SHIP-NAVIGATOR please download the brochure or check out the demo;
  • SHIP-MOORINGS is a ship motion simulation program, used for design and optimisation of mooring systems. The program is a capable of simulating the behaviour of a ship or multi-body system moored to fixed structures (quays, jetties) as well as floating structures (single point or spread mooring systems) under the influence of wind, waves, tide and current, all varying in time and space. For more information on SHIP-MOORINGS please download the brochure. Also available is a validation document for SHIP-MOORINGS ;
  • SHIP-PASSING is a is a software package to compute the forces on ships sailing close to each other and to compute the forces on moored ships due to passing ships in harbours with complex layouts and in channels with variable cross-section. These interaction forces can then be applied in other models such as ship-moorings and ship-navigator to simulate moored and sailing ship behaviour respectively... For more information on SHIP-PASSING please download the brochure
  • DIFFRAC2DV is a two dimensional boundary element model to compute the wave forces on and the fluid reaction forces (added mass and damping) of slender bodies;
  • DIFFRAC3D is a three dimensional potential theory boundary element model for the computation of hydrodynamic properties of arbitrarily shaped floating bodies. It computes first and second order wave force transfer functions, added mass and hydrodynamic damping. as well as motion response amplitude operators, all in the frequency domain.

SHIP-NAVIGATOR, SHIP-MOORINGS and DIFFRAC2DV are in-house developments of Alkyon Hydraulic Consultancy & Research.
DIFFRAC3D has been developed by MARIN.

Our engineers and researchers have extensive experience with all above mentioned models and Alkyon Hydraulic Consultancy & Research is authorised to apply the models.
