NAVAL ARCHITECT       

The vacancy in our Ports and Marine Infrastructure group is for a Naval Architect who will be specialised in the conceptual design of mooring systems and the motions of moored ships in multi-body configurations. The work will involve advising clients (e.g. on improvements to harbour layouts), and setting up simulation models. The candidate will also be expected to contribute to development of our ship simulation model (SHIP NAVIGATOR / SHIP MOORINGS)

The candidate will have a theoretical understanding of ship hydrodynamics, and in particular be familiar with mooring systems, added mass and damping coefficients, convolution integrals and representation of non-linear wave forces in time domain models. He / she is educated to M.Sc. level.
